Destructive Earthquake.
FOUR TOWNS DESTROYED. GREAT LOSS OF LIFE.
London, 13th.—Intelligence to hand that a severe earthquake has been experienced in the, State of Costa Rica, Central America. Four towns have been completely destroyed, and in the town of Alajuela alone several thousand persons have perished. English Cricket—End of Match. Melbourne, 14 th.—Owing to the inclemency of the weather to-day, play could not be continued, and the cricket match England v,‘ Australia was therefore drawn. .... .. . .
The Australians had made 300 in first innings, against 309 by the English team.
