AMERICAN COURTS, A disgraceful scone occurred in the court-room at Mount Vernon, Ky., on Jan. 11, during the trial of a murder case, John Mullens, a drunken, insolent witness, was first fined and then ordered under arrest for contempt of Court. He and his father resisted, and both being powerful men, made a wild scene of disorder, during which the audience and the jury fled in a panic. Several shots were fired and many persona were knocked down. Both men were finally arrested, and the trial was adjourned, the jury having disappeared.
