The Mail has over 90 subscribers between Whemtalcura and Waitotara.

BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL,

The Assessment Court for the Waverley Town and Wairoa Highway districts was held on Monday last, the former in the Town Hall, and the latter at Mr Morton’s house. There were few objections to the valuations, several objections ‘ were made by the Board as being too low. The Judge of the Court, however, upholding the .valuation in the first case (Mr D. Ballam’s property), the Board withdrew the remainder. In the case of the Highway Board, there were only two objections as to value—Messrs T. Kells and Ellers, of Waitotara. The objectors, however, failing to put in an appearance, the valuation was upheld. In your report of the last meeting of the Highway Board, Mr Johnston is mentioned as being elected chairman. It should be Mr John lon who was duly elected.
