Waverley Town District.

QUESTION AS TO DOG TAX. At the County Council meeting on Wednesday, a letter was received from the Waverley Town Board giving notice that they “ claim the exclusive right of levying and collecting any impost .or tax on dogs within the limits of the Waverley Town District, agreeably with the powers conferred by section 35 of the Town Districts Act 1881, and parts 11 and 12 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1876, which is incorporated therewith.” The letter added; “ This intimation is given that you may make known to the dog-tax collector for the County of Patea of this Board’s intention to resist his collecting here.’’ Signed by S. Caldwell, chairman. The Council agreed that the letter be acknowledged.
