LAND BUYERS.

(F ROM OUR C 0 R R KSPOSDBK T.)

Hawera

The Government land sale on Wednesday was not at all a success. I think the lack of bidding may be accounted for by the present inaccessibility of the land ; for until the Maori reserves are let and occupied, I fancy there will be little enquiry for these back sections. Messrs Nolan & Co.’s sale of town sections in the subdivision of “ Tail’s paddock,” was a remarkable contrast to the Government sale. Bidding was spirited, and prices realised in most cases were beyond the reserve, ranging from £2O to £230 for sections under a quarter of an acre. Many new comers purchased, showing that the outside public have the same confidence in the future of Hawera as the present residents.
