The Australian Wool Season
Melbourne, this clay.—Messrs Goldshorough and Co.’s review of the past Australian wool season shows that in Melbourne and Geelong 158,000 bales have been sold, being an increase of 29 per cent. In Sydney 75,000 bales have been sold, being an increase of 50 per cent. A total of -10,000 sold in Adelaide, also shows a satisfactory increase on the previous season.
JOINT NOTE ON EGYPT,
London, 13tb.—Another joint note by the Governments of England and France has been issued, further explaining their policy in regard to Egypt. The contents of (he document have not transpired.
Attack on a Magistrate.
London, 13th.—Correction of previous telegram : Intelligence is to hand from Ireland that an attempt has been made to murder Mr Lloyd, Magistrate, at Badyke, and that during the attack, a policeman who was guarding his house was shot. No trace of the perpetrator of the outrage has yet been obtained.
