(per united press association.) This Day. Broaching Cargo. Wellington,—At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, the steward of the ship Euterpe, arrived from London yesterday, was sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment for broaching cargo. Fire at Carterton. Hooker’s stables at Carterton, near the Public Hall, were burnt down this morning about 2 o’clock. The wind was high, but fortunately off the adjacent buildings. Auckland Strike. Auckland.—Men employed at the Union Sash and Door Mill at Aratapu have passed a resolution sympathising with the men on strike.
