MARKETS.
AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Mr Buckland, Auckland, reports that at his sheep fair on Feb. Ist, about 3000 ewes were penned, and for all young animals yarded there was a steady demand, and few remained unsold ; prices ranged from 6s to 9s for aged sheep, and from 10s to 25s for young stock, varying with their quality ; 500 lambs brought from 6s to 16s each ; rams were yarded far in excess of requirements, and about 100 of the best were sold at prices varying from 21s to Bs, but a quarter of the number were sold to the butchers. At Remuera on Feb. 2nd, dairy cows of good quality maintained the advanced prices, but aged and inferior animals were at low values. Store cattle were numerous and dull of sale ; fat cattle of prime quality were in full numbers, and prices steady throughout the sale at 21s per lOOlbs. Sheep in average supply and steady demand at 2£d per lb for good wethers, and lambs again were in better request.
