Reuter's Despatches to Patea Daily Mail This Day. Wreck of Steamer. Sydney, This Day.—All efforts to float the Union A.S.N. Coy’s chartered steamer which recently went ashore on Seal Rocks Point have proved unsuccessful. A heavy sea is now breaking over her, and she is expected to shortly become a total wreck. The vessel will he offered at auction to-day. Embezzlement. Melbourne, This Day.—G. Searcy, a well-known cricketer, has been found guilty of embezzling tho funds of the Metropolitan Building Society, and been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Dynamite Factory Destroyed. 16 PERSONS KILLED. A London despatch to the Age says a terrible explosion occurred in a dynamite factory at Port Vcndress, a seaport in the south of France. The factory was completely wrecked, and 16 persons.were killed. Incendiary Fire-raisers. A despatch to the Age says a number of fires have lately occurred in Chicago, and caused great destruction of property. Quite a panic has been caused among the inhabitants who attribute them to the work of incendiaries.
