ROAD BOARD FUNDS IN CANTERBURY.
At the annual meeting of ratepayers in the Courtney Road Board District,; Canterbury, the balance-sheet for the year showed Receipts: Interest, £1062: 19s 2d ; rents, £52 ; other sources, £65 Os 2d, with a balance of £.17,5891s Id’ from 5 1880, making a total of £ 18,769! Is Id. The expenditure amounted to, £3715 14s Id, ! together with liabilities for works in progress and partly paid for of £3l2| 12s 2d,. leaving,;,a balance in favor of the Board of £14,740* 14s lOd. The 'accounts; showed forty-nine” and a half miles-..-of new roads to: have been formed, nine and a half miles to have been metalled, and twenty-three iniles and a half of old roads to have been re-formed during, the -past year.
