This Afternoon . Latest London Markets London, 3rd. There are no changes to report jin consols or New Zealand securities. Australian tallow : Best beef has declined sixpence per cwt., and best mutton one shilling. To-day’s quotations are— Beef, 37s 6d ; mutton, 45s 6d. The stock of tallow in London on Ist instant was 11,300 casks. Colonial breadstuff's are without quotable change. Disputed Navigation of the Danube. Vienna, 3rd, Relations between the Austrian and Roumanian Governments are now much strained over the question of the navigation of the Danube. The Austrian Government has suspended all diplomatic communication with the Roumanian ‘Principality until Count Kalnok, the new Austrian Premier, has examined the points in dispute. Gambetta on Control of Tunis. Paris, 3rd. In a speech to-day Gambetta stated that his Government would not object to European control of affairs in Tunis, if such was desired by the Powers. “ Orient ” Steamer. The steamer Orient from Plymouth (Oct. 29) arrived at Adelaide yesterday morning. (Argus Specials. ) London, Nov. 21. An outbreak in Egypt is considered imminent. The Ulemas who compose most of the intelligent and influential Egyptians, are encouraged by aganislamic movement which is spreading from adjoining Mahommedan states. They are also causing much disquietude by their intrigues with the Egyptian army. Hopes are entertained that a general rising of the Transvaal natives will be averted. Many Kaffir tribes which showed a disposition to attack the Boers are now becoming quiet. Prince Leopold’s affianced bride, the Princess Helen, fourth daughter of Prince Waldeck, of Pyrmont, is 20 years of age. A tunnel through the Pyreness is proJoctcd. It is stated that the French intend to exercise a protectorate over the Australian islands dispersed group, South Society islands, and over Cook’s islands in the South Pacific.
