The Mail has over 90 subscribers between Whenuahura and Waitotara. BRANCH OFFICE OF THE HAIL. Monday. The entertainment given in the Town Hall on Thursdaj 7 last by the Good Templars passed off satisfactorily, though but poorty attended. The Town Board have received the plans of the levels of the footpaths through the main street, so I suppose the tenders will be shortly called for formation, &c. The cricket match Married v. Single, which was to have been played on Saturday, had to be again postponed owing to the rough weather, Saturday next being the day fixed. I see our Patea friends are agitating for the purpose of getting Government ■to open up the bush country, and wish them every success in their endeavors. It is a very desirable thing that this should be done as soon as possible, while money is plentiful, as the land is far more likely to fetch good prices when such is the case. WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD. The monthly meeting was held on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Johnston (in the chair), M’Lean, and Aiken, Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Treasurer’s balance : General account, £560 18s 4d ; block 8, £BS 12s 7d ; block 9, £7O 15s 6d. Letters received from J. Henson, 11. Collins and others, Treasury, and D. McDonald and others. Report received from the Foreman of Works. Tenders for Bradley and Aiken road : Conaglen and Herlihy, £l2 ; H. Dudley, 15s 6d per chain ; P. Keenan, £l2 ; W Davis, £l7 16s ; J. Hughes, £1 7s 6d pelchain. Resolved that Mr Dudley’s tender be accepted. Resolved that tenders be called for repairing lower Kohi bridge ; tenders to close next Saturday. Resolved that the Foreman of Works report and draw up specifications for work on Cemetery road by next meeting. Resolved that the Board inspect the road between Howie’s and Flower’s corner on January 7th. Resolved that the Foreman of Works report on the road past section 25, block 9, Momahaki, by next meeting. Resolved that all defaulting ratepayers be sued at once. Resolved that tenders be called for valuer for one year ; tenders to close' on Saturday. Resolved that a special meeting be held on Saturday,
