Patea Daily Mail. THE Mail will be published Daily at the beginning of the New Year. It will be delivered the same evening throughout the district by mounted messengers, running Northward to Hawera, Manaia, and Normanby, »Southward to Wavorley, Sec. Price will be Id. The cost of delivering the Daily Mail throughout the district will be over £5 a week: and there being no margin of profit on the circulation of a penny paper, a small charge for delivery will be necessary. Subscribers who have paid in advance will be credited according to amount paid. A considerable increase in circulation, especially in the country districts, is anticipated when the daily issue commences : and Mettlcrs are asked to support the Mail in preference to daily papers coming in from other districts. Additional machinery to quicken the speed of printing is being obtained, it being found impracticable with hand-power to run otf a large daily circulation for prompt delivery. The splendid machine on which the Mail is printed can be worked at a speed of 2,U00 impressions per hour, equal to 1.000 completed copies. I’apcrs printed for morning circulation may easily be worked at a slow rate, there being several hours between the time at which news ceases to arrive and t lie time for morning delivery of papers. But an evening paper must have the machinework crushed into a brief space, to enable late telegrams to be received, and yet to get the paper spread over a wide district in time for evening reading. It is "ratifying to be able to state that the Mail has not lost three subscribers in Patea or the district during the last three months, and that new subscribers continue to be added every week. I his is substantial testimony to the standing and popularity of the Mail. WANTED, at Normanby. a steady Youth to ride from Patea to Normanby, delivering the Daily Mail, commencing New Year. I.cave Patea about 4.15 afternoons. Horses provided, changing at Manutahi; or tender may be made to include use of horses and all expenses. Manaia messenger -will meet him at Hawera for parcel.
