Reuter's Despatches to Patea County Mail. Marquis of Hartington on Ireland. London, 26th. The Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, addressed a crowded meeting at Blackburn, Lancashire, this evening, and spoke at length on the state of affairs in Ireland, regretting that the situation in that country caused the utmost anxiety, and was calculated to inspire the greatest disappointment and dissatisfaction. He said agrarian were alarmingly rife, and the exercise of the rights of property fraught with difficulty and danger. He added that the situation was receiving the earnest attention of Government, who would continue to act with unswerving firmness and inexhaustible patience.
