Outbreak of Cholera. Alexandra, 16th, News to hand from Arabia is that cholera has broken out at Djiddah, an important seaport on the Red Sea, 60 miles west of Mecca, where the epidemic has been raging for some time. A number of deaths has already occurred at Djiddah, and the mortality at Mecca is stated to be (Press Associaion Telegrams. ) 800 Natives Removed. MORE ARRESTS, Pungarehu, This Day. The Association Special says :—The arresting continued this morning. 178 Taranaki natives have been taken. The number of Ngatiawa natives sent away this morning was 270, and the remaining 86 are still in custody at Fort Rolleston, and they along with those arrested to-day will probably be dispersed to-morrow. Captain Messenger, Messrs Hursthoase and Parris are in the pah identifying the people. More will be taken this afternoon. About 800 Maoris in all have now been taken out of the pah, and there are more than that number still left in it. Everything else is quiet. Weather dull and threatening. The voting for Borough auditors closes at six o’clock this afternoon. Hone Pibama was sued to-day by the purchaser of the debts in Skelley and Co.’s estate, for £27 4s, drapery supplied. Judgment for amount by default, and costs. David Hunter summoned C. Todd to-day at the R.M. Court, for using threatening language. Mr Hamerton was for plaintiff and Mr Adams for defendant. After hearing evidence and arguments, the case was dismissed. There was a second summons in which the parties were reversed. The defendant, Todd, was fined 20s, and costs, £1 Bs, for using obscene language towards Hunter. Mr Barton, solicitor, has gone to Auckland to meet his father, who is on a short professional visit from England. Mr Barton expects to bo absent from Patea about a week.
