WAVEBLEY.

The Mail has over 90 suhscrlers between Whenuahura and Waiiotara.

BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Friday Evening. "-The, -Lydia Hpwardc troupe performed -here on Monday and Tuesday evening, and though the attendance-was small on both occasions the programme was gone through in a very satisfactory manner. The troupe no doubt possesses a considerable amount of talent, the singing and ' acting being exceedingly good. Some happy hits were made in the local song, and were taken in good part by those mentioned. It is the intention of the company to give another entertainment here, 1 believe, on their return from New Plymouth in about a fortnight, when I hope they will meet with better support. A novelty in the shape of a machine singing bird was brought up faom Wanganui the other day by Mr Kohn, the jeweller, who came up to fix the clock in the Town Hall, lately presented by Mr D. H. Williamson. Mr Kohh kindly took the bird to the school, and the children having duly listened to the strains of the little melodist, Mr Scott, the master, in a neat little speech pointed out to them how it was worked,'and explained the wonderful results to be attained from mechanism. I observe some of our residents are still not satisfied at the decision of the meeting re County representation, and are trying to stir up the matter again. Why not call another meeting ? This would settle the matter one way or the other, as if the majority were so anxious for joining with Patea surely they would make an effort to roll up when asked to a meeting. If they did not, then it would show conclusively that the decision of the former meeting was correct.
