COUNTY RESERVE IN PATEA.

A reserve of about an acre, belonging to the County Council, situate on the main street in Patea between the Court House and the Barracks, is to be put into the market for lease in a short time. A committee recommended that the reserve be leased in eight separate sections for 35 years, with half valuation for improvements conditional on the plan of buildings being approved. This report was adopted by the Council at Wednesday’s meeting. Mr Dale advised that the sections would fetch higher prices in the spring, and it was agreed not to offer them till Buildings on that vacant land would be a desirable improvement to the main street. The firebell stands on the land at present.
