NATIVE FENCING.
New Plymouth, July 30. The Natives have again commenced to obstruct the road near Parihaka. Yesterdajr morning the men constructing the bridge on the road between Pungarehu and Pahote were stopped by Natives, who had assembled in great numbers. A messenger was at once despatched to Pungarehu, and the Constabulary were ordered to proceed to the spot to protect the workmen. The Natives refused to leave the place after the Constabulary had arrived. Mr Pam's and Major Tuke were sent for, and they departed this morning for camp. The reason why the Natives have obstructed the work is, they say, because Government are encroaching upon their land, and they will not suffer it.
