ATTACK ON MR PARRIS.
MYSTERIOUS LETTER. (Telegram from'our Correspondent .) Wellington, Wednesday. In the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr Moss complained of the administration of Native affairs on the West Coast, and the conduct of Major Parris, who was responsible for much of the disturbance which had taken place there during the last 20 years, and who now ruled the Commissioner; and of the undue favor shown to Hone Piharaa by the Commissioner, in granting him money and land out of all proportion to the merits of the case, while other just claims were ignored. Mr Moss stated he was in receipt of 'information that Mr Parris’s atcion on the West Coast was strongly, condemned. He concluded by saying the time had come when it was imperative * that the responsibility should be assumed by the Native Minister, and not left to the West Coast Commissioner, Mr Rollcston replied angrily to Mr Moss and said that he held himself responsible for the administration of affairs, and complained of the cowardly and slanderous attacks made upon Mr Parris’s conduct. Mr Sheehan gave Government credit for their management of affairs in the Waikato, but took credit to himself for having initiated the policy. After discussion the motion was put and carried, and the resolution reported to the House.
