Tuesday, before Mr C. A. Wray*, R.M. CIVIL CASES. M'Carty and Hunger v. Woods, Kakaramea, was an application for judgment summons, the debt being £7 6s 2d. The case was adjourned for fuller evidence as to defendant’s ability to pay. H. Riseley v. Jas. Brown, carpentqr, Waverley, was a claim for 19s 6d, butter and eggs delivered. Defendant did not appear. Judgment furamount, with costs* T. Irwin v. Smythe was a claim for board and lodging. Defendant did not appear. Judgment for amount, and costs. SUEING FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS. Eyton v. Duffill Brothers was a claim for £l, being one year’s subscription to the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, of which plaintiff is secretary. The register of names was put in showing the signature of Duffill Brothers, and plaintiff said this signature bad been written by one of tbo brothers—be could not say which. The Magistrate said there was no evidence to show which brother was liable for the amount, and the plaintiff must be nonsuited. Eyton v. Richards, Hawera, was a claim against Dr. Richards for similar subscription. The year sued for was to end of March last. Defendant did not appear. Judgment for amount and 7s costs. W. Murray Thomson, Hawera, was also sued for subscription, having signed the register. Defendant did not appear. Judgment for amount and 7s costs. Another summons of the same kind had not been served.
