TO THE EDITOR.

RAILWAY ROUTE.

Sir, —Re Mr Harnerton’s remarks at Saturday’s meeting regarding the railway route to Patea, that no business man in Waverley would- pay for 30 miles to Wanganui, as compared with 10 miles to Pate*. That is, it the railway comes from Waverley to Patea ; but if it crosses the country to Kakaramea what benefit would it be to the Waverley settlers, or how many of them would send their goods or themselves by way of Kakaramea in order to reach Patea ? Waverley Settler.
