HARBOR ENDOWMENT.

Mr H. Williamson moved “That it is urgently desirable to have thePatea harbor works proceeded with, and that an adequate endowment of land should be provided for enabling the Harbor Board to meet shipping requirements of the district.” Mr Coutts seconded, and said that as other Harbor Boards had been getting endowments of land, he did not see why Patea should not have the same assistance. Mr Tknnent : I look upon this resolution as the most important yet proposed. The railway will do much good, but no railway will make this a flourishing town without the facilities of a port. (Hear, hear.) Mr Sherwood : The request of the member for a public vote to enable him to do good to the district, ought to have unanimous support.

The motion was carried unanimously.
