Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, July 13. Cattle at the Waverley sale showed a marked improvement in values, the pens were well competed for, and were all sold at the auction. The cattle at the sale today were of an inferior description, but sold fairly well. Sheep were scarce, no stores offering, and hardly enough fat for the trade. Cattle. —At Waverley 248 head came forward—Best stoves, 3 year-old bullocks, £5 17s 6d to £6 Is ; cows, £3 15s to £3 17s Gd ; cows and calves, £5 12s Gd ; yearlings, £2 6s to £3 ; fat cows, £5 10s. At St. Hill-street 199 were sold—Fat cows, £5 5s to £5 12s Gd ; store cows, £3 15s to £3 17s Gd ; steers, £4 12s Gd ; steers and heifers, £3 15s ; yearlings, £2 12s Gd to £2 17s Gd.
Sheep.—At Waverley 339 were penned —Lambs made 7s 9d ; ewes, of inferior class, Bs. At the yards to-day 270 fat wethers were sold from lls 9d to 12s. Pigs. —Good porkers, 16s to 20s. Houses. —No alteration in values. Expouts. —lsß head of cattle, 952 sheep 30 pigs.
