THE NATIVE QUESTION .
The Grey Argus says—Goldminers there do not care a straw about the Native question. It is no doubt very important. It costs enough in all conscience to be that. But it is made to appear a great deal more important than it is by the mystery men, the Pakeha-Maori, the hocus-pocus of Native Commissioners and all the other creatures of their slimy craft. It is just a great pity Mr Bryce did not seize Te Whiti in the first instance when the political ploughmen began their work, and then there would have been an end of the whole matter. We are eternally sick of the native question and all its falsehood, trickery, and other abominations, ever since the days of the missionaries, Sir George Grey, General Cameron, and Imperial muddling, and we shall not forget in a hurry the load of debt then imposed upon ns, and that never did the least bit of good. If money was sometimes squandered on public works, we at least have something to show for it.
