THE COAL TRADE.
The Bullcr Miner says—the Duller Coal trade is now an accomplished fact and it increases at a rapid rate. The Westport Collery Company, whose magniiicicnt and successful works roach to a height of nearly two thousand feet from the railway to the mine, has been for some months sending out coal of unsurpassed quality in quantities only limited by the supply of shipping to take it away. In addition to these works already constructed and in operation two other Companies in the district arc constructing works in connection with collieries and will before long be in a position to claim their share of the tradeThe Koranui Company, after many years of delay is proceeding rapidly with the construction of its inclines up the spurs of Mount Frederick, and a company has opened a valuable mine and has nearly completed means of transit and shipping at the lliver Mokihinui. With an unlimited supply of the best steam and gas coal in the world and with the means of transit and shipping we possess, it will be strange if the item of coal appears much longer in the list of Colonial imports and if a large addition is not made to the coal exports, by which many hundreds of thousands of pounds will be annually saved or gained by the Colony.
