FREEMAN R. JACKSONS’ FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.
Wanganui, February 9tli. 1 had a full yard of stock at Hawera on Friday. Store cattle were slightly in favor of the buyers, owing to the low price of beef now ruling. Sheep were well competed for, and made full values. At the yards to-day a large entry of stock came forward. Beef made about 17s 6d the lOOlbs. Store cattle, such as cows and yearlings, were well competed for, but large bullocks were turned out unsold. The competition for sheep was good, all being sold at satisfactory prices. The rams bred by the executors of the late Mrs Hair were not all sold, competition being very dull indeed, I placed a few at low values, and the rest are for private sale. The fact that the Ruatangata run was to be offered to-day drew a very large attendance. It was passed in at £20,000, a bona fide offer of £19,000 being refused. I expect to place it privately to-inoirow. A large number of horses came forward, some finding purchasers at low values. I placed Mr Shuttleworth’s property, near Aramoho, at a satisfactory figure, privately, to a gentleman from Southland. , Cattle. —At Hawera, 366 head came forward :—Best bullocks, £7 2s 6d; good grown stores, £5 15s ; cows, £4 12s 6d ; yearlings, £2 7s 6d.
