WAVERLEY.

The Mail has over 80 subscribers between Whenualcura and Waiiotara. BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Monday Evening. Waverley Institute. —The annual meeting was held on Wednesday evening to elect officers for the present year. The following were duly elected : president, Mr G, Norman ; secretary and treasurer! Mr F. P. Fookes ; committee, Messrs Seed, Thurston, Stanton, Mitchell, James Aiken, and H. F. IVXason- Owing 1 to the Jarg^e number of books that have been added to the library, a considerably increased number of subscribers may be expected. Harvest. —The weather has been very favourable for harvesting for the last few days, and the township presented quite a deserted appearance on Saturday. This morning everyone was early astir, as parties were leaving for their work, and this week will sec the height of the harvest work over. Mr James M. Dickie has threshed his oats, which averaged 45 bushels per acre. This speaks well for a fair yield this season, but there are no very heavy crops in the district. At the meeting of the Good Templars on Thux'sday evening four new members were initiated, and the following officers were elected :—W.C.T., Bro. IHsely ; W.Y.T., Bro. McLean ; W.S., Bro. Barclay; W.F.S., Bro. Butler ; W.T., Bro. J. F. Robinson; W. 0., Rev. J. Allsworth ; W.M., Sister E. Riddell ; W.1.G., Bro. Mackie ; W.0.G., Bro. Burrow ; R.H.S., Sister A. McLean; L.H.S., Sister M. Walker; W.A.S., Bro. Collins ; W.D.M., Sister Isabella McLean.
