WAITOTARA.

[from our correspondent.] Wednesday Evening. Your townsman, Mr H. I. Davis, had the misfortune to lose one of his most valuable horses here on Saturday last, by being drowned in Dime’s lagoon. It seems the team were loose and feedingclose to the gate leading into the railway station. One of them, being thirsty, went down to the lagoon for a drink near Messrs Durie’s sheep-dip. The ground was soft and the water deep close to the edge. The animal’s fore-feet appear to have gone down and stuck, and being unable to recover himself, the unfortunate horse fell forward and was drowned.
