Wellington, Wednesday Night. A serious accident occurred to the Foxton coach this evening. Just as the coach was passing Ewan’s auction mart in Willis-slroet, at a quarter to six, the tram-cars came up at a rapid pace, when the coach horses took fright and bolted, first striking the iron post of Ewan’s verandah, then cannoning off another, until the whole body of the coach was smashed to pieces. The four horses, with pole and wheels, pursued their mad career, until stopped in Manncrs-st. There were two passengers in the coach at the time, the rest havinggot out as the coach entered the town. The two passengers arc unhurt, but Tommy Maher, the driver, is much hurt. The four wheels passed over him. The team also smashed up several drays and carts in their wild career before being captured.
