The Mail has occr 80 subscribers between Whenuuhura and Wailotura. BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Monday Evening. Cavaluv Competition. —A meeting was held on Saturday evening to arrange the firing fur the carbine presented by Mr Ballam. It is to be fired for on the Rifle Range on Boxing Day. Sunday Services. —On Sunday morning the weather was so disagreeably wet and boisterous that the services bad to bo overlooked. In the evening there was a fair attendance at the Presbyterian Church, when the Rev. R. J. Allsworth delivered an earnest and impressive lecture on ‘ 1 Temperance.” The Weather has been exceedingly rough for the last few days, much lo the disadvantage of those engaged in making hay. When the hay is cut and lying in the fields, people naturally wish for a few fine days, while the feelings of those who have commenced shearing operations are not to be envied.
