See New Zealand Stud Booh. Towton, sire of Puriri, was also sire of such celebrities as Old Tambourini, Korari; Songster (sire Hornby), &c. Full brother to The Peer sire of Manuka and Peeress), also to Marchioness, winner of English Oaks and other great races. Half brother to the famous Marquis (sire of Painter, Newminstor, and Grand Prix) who won St. Leger, Two Thousand, and ran Caractacus to a head for the Derby. Waimea, dam of Puriri, was the greatest stud matron in New Zealand, her progeny having won more races and produced more winners. Her descendants were Manuka, Toi'Toi (dam Kakapo and Hornby), Harekeko (dam Korari), Totara, Papapa, Kauri, Bama Bama, and Reveller. Good paddock at Waitotara.
