WAITOTARA.

[FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.] Tho post and telegraph portion of the railway station buildings arc now completed and ready for use. Tho public boro object to the proposed removal of tho business, but the change would not bo likely to affect the revenue more than the imposition of the extra sixpence per telegram has already done. A cattle siding has also been added to the Railway Station here, which should prove a convenience to parties wishing to send cattle or horses by rail. The Waverley section of the line is progressing with railway speed. The ballasting is now within about two miles of Waverley. Messrs Wilkie were fortunate in getting a ballast pit within 20 yards of the lino, about two miles north of the Waitotara station. It was discovered by one of the engineering staff. The manner in which this section has been pushed on is a marked contrast to the way In which the Kai Iwi and Waitotara sections of line were dragged out. A public meeting was held in Mr Filer’s hotel on Saturday evening, Captain Kells in tho chair, to consider the intended removal of post and telegraph office to the railway station. On the motion of Mr T. W. Fisher, seconded by Mr Daniel Wilkie, Messrs J. Stent, D. Smith, and T. Kells wore appointed a committee to draw up a memorial to the Government, showing the inconvenience to the public of the proposed change.
