Wellington, Friday. Dr Lemon’s regulation imposing an extra sixpence on telegrams at certain small stations is now revoked ; and the rates chargeable upon New Zealand lines for messages between Australian colonies are : first ton words sixpence, and each additional word one penny. BANKRUPTCY. Wellington, Friday. Mr S. S. Griffiths, the well-known biscuit maker, has called a meeting of creditors. His assets are stated a fc £6OOO, and liabilities at £6BOO, MAYORAL* ELECTION. Wellington, Friday. Mr Dwau bad a highly successful meeting at the Arcade last night, and received a unanimous vote of confidence. It is understood the Liberal Association will support him in the Mayoralty election. DOCTOR SUING THE GOVERNMENT. Wellington, Friday. In the Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Dr Kostcvcu brought an action against the Government to recover £2B 7s as professional fee for services in tlie Rimutaka railway accident. He was nonsuited. MR MANSPORD’S ESTATE. Wellington, Friday. The late T. Mansford, R.M., died intestate, and his widow is grunted letters of administration. The estate is sworn under £GOO. WEST COAST COMMISSIONERS. Wellington, Friday. Sir W, Fox and Mr Parris arrived in town this morning, ami have been in close consultation with Sir D. 801 l in reference to the native reserves on the West Coast. ANCHOR STEAM LINE. Wellington, Friday. None of the tenders for the Anchor line of steamers came near the price expected, and the boats will continue running.
