WAVERLEY
The Mail has over 80 subscribers between Whenuahura and Waitotara . WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD. The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present, Messrs lon (chairman), McLean, Johnston, Aiken and G. S. Bridge. The Treasurer’s balance was £l7 16s 7d; Dr. Block VIII. £157 10s Id. Dr. Block IX. £172 7s 2d. A letter from the Treasury stated that £126 6s lOd had been paid to the credit of the Board for Block VIII., and £2lßs 9d for Block IX. Proposed by Mr Johnston, seconded by Mr Aiken, “ That the tender of 11. F. Mason to supply timber for Momahaki bridges for 14s 6d per 100 feet delivered at the sites be accepted ; the timber to be sound and all heart, and to pass the inpection of the foreman of works,” Carried. Proposed by Mr Aiken, seconded by Mr lon, “ That Mr W. McLeod’a tender for iron-work be accepted (Bf]d per lb.)’’ Carried. Tenders for tho Maori bridge were as follow -Hughes L 25, Olisen L 25 10s, Payton Ll9 16d. Proposed by the Chair-
man, seconded by Mr Johnson, “ That Mr Payton’s tender be accepted.” Carried. Tenders for the office of valuer were:— W, Milne LID, H. F. Mason L2O, J. Maysmore L 25. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr lon, “ That Milne’s tender be accepted.” Carried. The following accounts were passed for payment: Mail 4s 6d, Wilcox L2 16s, Kinsell LI Is, Fitzhcrbert L2 17s 4d f Keating L 8 11s. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Johnston, “ That the consideration of an allowance to W. Lind for bridging the Momahaki be deferred until the bridges at Williamson’s spur are built.” Carried. The question of accepting the Chairman’s resignation was held over until next meeting.
