MARKETS.
CANTERBURY STOCK. {Latest Report .) There was a large attendance .at the Addington Yards on Wednesday last, and the stock brought forward comprised 7127 sheep, 494 cattle, and 28 pigs. The quality was good all round, with no lines of special quality or the reverse. Bidding generally was brisk, and there was consequently a slight improvement in prices as compared with last week.
SHEEP.—Prices opened about equal to those at the previous sale, and improved towards the close. Prime crossbreds in the wool sold up to 17s, good do, 10s Gil; medium, 13s Gd to 14s ; good cross-brcda realised 10s for best quality. Merinos in the wool brought Pis Gd. We quote mutton, shorn, lid ; unshorn 2;, l d. Stores Avere in good demand. Four and six-tooth cross-breds in wool sold at 12s ; lambs of prime quality, 12s Gd ; others Gs Gd to
10s. Cattle.— Extra prime quality bullocks realised £l2 os ; good do, £ll. We quote prime beef at 22s Gd per 1001b. Stores were in good supply, and sold well. Best three-year-olds realised £6 10s ; two-year-olds, up to £5 7s Gd ; yearlings, £3 10s ; and calves from £1 15s to £2. Pigs were cleared at about last week’s rates.
