SEPARATE TENDERS will be received at the Public Works Office, New Plymouth, until noon on Thursday, 28th October, 1880, for Gravelling or Metalling (if required) Contracts Nos, 1, 2, 3, 4, and u, on the Mountain Road, County Patca; and Contracts Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 6, on the Mountain Road, County of Taranaki. They must be . addressed to the Hon. Minister for Public Works, and marked outside,

“Tenders for Gravelling or Metalling.” Specifications and conditions may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Wellington, Wanganui, and New .Plymouth; Post Offices, Carlyle and Hawera ; and at the Telegraph Office, Norman by. All Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit cheque for the amount named in the specifications; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for twenty-one days, and to he in favour of the Receiver-General's deposit account only, and not to bearer or order. The

lowest or any Tender will not necessarily be accepted. N.B.—Parties tendering will be required to prospect for and find a supply of gravel as near the work as possible ; and each tenderer must state the least number of teams he intends to employ on the work; not less than four teams, however, shall be employed on any. one contract.
