NATIVE ATTACK ON A SHIP.

Fuller particulars of the attack on the schooner Ripple at Solomon Island, in revenge for abuse of a native woman, arc as follows : On the 9th of August, wbiio trading with the natives of Cape La Gros, Bougainville, Solomon’s Island, the natives, about 100 in number, suddenly attacked the ship and killed Captain Furguson and three colored men. One woman was wounded severely, also nine others, including a German passenger, William Pense, who had both of their arms broken. The fight was most desperate. The Japanese and the crew fought like demons, using their rifles after exhausting their revolvers. The crew killed at least fifteen men. The natives when beaten from the ship fought from their canoes. The killed and wounded, with spears, arrows and axes, covered the deck. Six are dead, and two more arc not expected to recover.
