PARTY GOVERNMENT.

Mr 'Seymour, M.H. R., chairman of committees, says this is a Ministry of honest straightforward men'; that the want of an organised Opposition ■ with a recognised leader was the main cause of so little business being; done ; and that things will be no better until Sir George Grey is again . leader. Our opinion is that an organised Opposition is a parliamentary nuisance, though it docs promote despatch pf business at times if' the whips from both sides can

meet ami settle divisions in advance. Anyone experienced in that kind of “ management ” cannot be much of a patriot if ho desires to see free discussion stifled by organised wire-pulling. It would also bo matter for regret to sec Sir George Grey the recognised leader of a party. He cannot lead, and will not follow. The present Government is far preferable' to any change in that direction.
