The Australian cricketers left England to-day for the Continent, where they will spend a few days, and then proceed to Suez, leaving that port by the P. and O. steamer on the 14th for Melbourne and Sydney.
SCULLING RACE. London, sth
The sculling match between Laycock and Blackman for £IOO a-side, on the Thames from Putney to Mortlake, resulted to-day in an easy victory for Laycock.
JUDGES AND THE PRESS. Sydney, Wednesday. A crowded was held last night to consider the best means of showing sympathy with the Evening News in connection with the contempt of Court case. It was resolved that the Judge’s action was calculated to endanger the liberty of the subject, and the meeting, further decided to make an appeal for subscriptions to pay the fine of £250 imposed on the paper. j PALLING REVENUE. Melbourne, Wednesday. The revenue of Victoria during the last quarter amounted to £1,092,000, being a decrease of £41,000 compared with the corresponding quarter of last year.
Albion s.s. in Danger. SHAFT BROKE AT SEA. Melbourne, Wednesday. The Albion steamship has broken her shaft twenty miles from Wilson’s promontory. Assistance is required.
Coercing Turkey.

It has been agreed by the Powers to await the proposal to be made by the Porte on Monday regarding the cession of Dulcigno to Montenegrins. Further advices stale that the Albanians are mustering in strong force at Dulcigno. H.M.S. transport Hecla has taken torpedos and boats to the Island of Corfu.
London, 4th
The Porte proposes a general scheme for the settlement of the pending question in connection with Montenegro and Albania. No further details have yet been received.
The combined fleet has arrived at Kattaroa, and Admiral Seymour has gone to Cettinje to confer with the Montenegrin authorities.
MORE COMPROMISE . London, sth
Further details of scheme proposed by the Porte to the Great Powers have now transpired for settlement of the difficulty between Turkey and Greece. The Ottoman Government to cede to Greece the frontier to the south of Janina in Epirus, and Larissa in Thessaly, but the towns themselves are not to be included in the ceded territory, as required by the supplemented Berlin conference.
DEATH OP OFFENBACH. London, sth
The death of Monsieur Offenbach, the well-known French musician, composer of light operas, is announced today. The deceased was 61 years of age.
EXHIBITION GAIETIES. Melbourne, Wednesday
The Governor gave a grand ball at Government House last night, at which 2,500 guests were present. It was a brilliant success.
The Victorian Exhibition Commissioners will entertain the Governors of other colonies, the foreign aud colonial commissioners, and other distinguished visitors, at a ball in the Town Hall on the 12th, and at a conversazione in the Exhibition on the night of the 14th.
