GREAT RAILWAY PROJECT.

Brisbane, September 30

In the Legislative Assembly last night the Colonial Treasurer moved the second reading of a Bill to authorise the construction of a railway under the land grant system; The measure provides for a grant of 8000 acres for every mile of line constructed, in alternate blocks, the line to remain the property of the constructors. It is stated that if the Bill is passed a line of railway will be constructed to the Gulf of Carpentaria, from Roma, which place* is already connected by rail with Bris bane.
