OUTRAGE.

Johnson, the father of the child who was outraged, has been arrested for the offence. He is a foreigner, and the girl Is only three years old.
SOLICITOR REES’S CAPERS,
Gisborne, Friday
Mr Rees, solicitor, and eight men, have forcibly entered Robert Cooper’s premises, near Gisborne, in the absence of Cooper, and while his wife was lying ill. It is the subject of excited comment. Rees is trying to get possession of the Hapera property, which Cooper claims under a disputed title from the trustees in Read’s estate.
LAND SALE.
Auckland, Friday
The Waste Lands Board have agreed to sell the Te Aroha block, 17,000 acres, at 40s per acre, subject to conditions, such as residence, cultivation, &c.
PUBLIC WORKS. Auckland, Friday. £2OOO are to be expended north of Auckland in making roads and bridges.
ILLNESS OP SIR G. GREY. Wellington, Friday. Sir George Grey is ill at Kawau o his old complaint, sore leg.
WAIKATO NATIVE LAND.

Natives of the Waikato, inside the confiscated boundary, are anxious to sell their land.

The captain of H.M.S. Danae, now at Auckland, has received a telegram from the Commodore at Sydney to be in readiness to proceed to Fiji to bring Sir Arthur Gordon to Wellington.
SAD ACCIDENT.
Christchurch,' Friday.
A man named McKown, with a horse and cart, ran into a passing train at a crossing. He was much injured.
TIRED OP LIFE.

Mrs Goodwin, passenger by the Tui from Kaikoura, jumped off the wharf into the harbor < o-day, but was rescued uninjured, save a cold ducking, which may do her good.

John Marks, jeweller, of Wellington, has assigned his estate for the benefit of his creditors.
FLOATING THE RAILWAY CO; Wellington, Friday.
Great interest is taken here in the floating of a company to make tha Wellington and Foxton Railway. Many prominent citizens have given in their names for thousands.
