NORMANBY.
f !■' It OJt OUI! COR RKSI’O ND K N T.] A meoting was called last Friday afternoon for the purpose of considering whether il is advisable to extend the Ngairc Road Board district over the whole of the survey district. There were not many settlers present, and a resolution in favour of the extension was carried by fonr votes to three, one of the minority votes being also disputed. The question of separation from Patea County was afterwards discussed, but the feeling of the meeting was decidedly and strongly against it, only one present being at all in its favor. It is considered here as being certainly premature, to say the least of it, and as an attempt on the part of Hawera to snatch an advantage owing to the temporary accident of being the largest town in the district. It is sincerely hoped that an appeal to the inhabitants, in the shape of a petition, will show the fruitlessness of such an attempt.
