AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The committee held another meeting at Patca bn Saturday, to arrange details for the forthcoming show. Present, Messrs Chapman (president), Dickie, Pearce, Mcßae, Hearn, Powdrcll, Honeylicld* Fleming, Gower, Turner, C. Syme, Wilson, and the secretary. Invitations having been sent to associations at Wanganui, Napier, Wairarapa, and Taranaki, a reply from Wanganui was now read nominating E. A. Campbell as a judge of draught stock ; J. W. Baker, cattle ; J. Heslop, blood stock; J. Handley, sheep ; and requesting nominations for the Wanganui show. The Taranaki Association wrote saying three members (not named) will be ready to attend as judges of horses, cattle, and sheep. Tenders for erecting a shed and yards on the show-ground were opened thus : Mr Irwin, shed £3 9s, hurdles 3s each ; Waite, shed £4 10s, hur.dles 3s 6d; Foster and Nixon, shed £B, hurdles 3s 6d; Houguez, shed £lO Bs, hurdles £2l 10s for 100 ; Salmon, shed £l2 10s, hurdles 2s 6d. The tender of Mr Irwin was accepted. Ihe prizes in each class were then fixed, as will be seen from advertisement. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Dickie, seconded by the president, that third prizes for cattle be not given. A fee of 2s 6d is to be charged for entries for special prizes in case a prize for a similar exhibit is not offered by the Association. A water jump was added to the programme, on the motion of the president. No exhibitor is to enter more than three exhibits in one class. Judges arc to have power to disqualify from competition any animal wrongly entered. Mr Wilson was nominated as a judge of cattle at Wanganui. Account passed for payment, 6s advertising at Hawera. The meeting adjourned.
