Terms—Three guineas each marc ; two or more mares as per agreement. Cocksure— A brown horse, bred by Henry Redwood, Esq., in 1872, Got by the imported horse Towton, out of Certainty. Certainty the dam of Dead Shot, sire of Mata, the New Zealand champion racehorse of the day. Certainty is by II Barbiere, her dam Chance by Sir Hercules, out of Finesse by Toss, out of Flirt by Mariner (Arab). Towton (own brother to the Peer), bred in England in 1850, got by Melbourne out of Cinzclli by Touchstone, Brocade by Pantaloon. Cinzclli the winner of the 2000 guineas, and dam of Towton, the Peer, and Marquis, Cocksure is rising 8 years old ; as a 3-ycar-old, won the Hutt Park Stakes and Auckland Handicap, and was winning the Auckland Cup easy when he ran off the course, and was never raced afterwards. Mr Redwood asserts that Cocksure is one of the best and fastest horses ever bred in New Zealand. For further particulars, &c., apply to MR. A. Dam—Mr Charles Campbell’s famous brood marc by Champion (imported). Sire—Mr Kettle’s imported horse Sir William Wallace. Sir William Wallace is a beautiful dark bay with black points, and was foaled January 7th, 1872. For symmetry 7 , strength, and action, he stands unrivalled. He is perfectly quiet, docile, and tractable. No horse approaches him in quality 7 and quantity of bone, muscle, and hair. Ho is a sure foalgetter, and his stock are turning out firstclass. He has taken the Champion Prize in Wanganui two years in succession, viz., in 1878 and 1879. For pedigree and further particulars, see largo cards. Fee —Single mares, at £4 10s ; reduction made for two or more mares. Groomage fee, 2s Gd, to be paid when the marc is served. Fees payable on January Ist, 1881. Paddock for mares free for one month, after which a charge of Is 6d per week will be made. Every care taken but no responsibility.
