Redwood, Esq., 1873, is 7 years old, by Towlon, dam Waimea, by Sir Hercules, dam Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant, dam Cornelia, by Grasshopper. —Manto by Soothsayer. Towton by Melbourne, dam Cinizelli; Cinizelli by Touchstone. See New Zealand Sind Book. Towton, sire of Puriri, was also sire of such celebrities as Old Tambourini, Koran, Songster (sire Hornby), &c. Full brother to The Peer sire of Manuka and Peeress), also to Marchioness, winner of English Oaks and other great races. Half brother to the famous Marquis (sire of Painter, Nowminstcr, and Grand Prix) who won St. Leger, Two Thousand, and ran Caractacus to a head for the Derby. Waimea, dam of Puriri, was the greatest stud matron in New Zealand, her progeny having won more races and produced more winners. Her descendants were Manuka, Toi Toi (dam Kakapo and Hornby), Harokeko (dam Korari), Totara, Papapa, Kauri, Rama Rama, and Reveller. Good paddock at Wailotara. Terms: Single mares, six guineas ; two or more mares as per agreement. Groomage, ss. Cash or promissory note Ist January, 1881. Also, In the Patea District, going as far as Waverley, at special request of several settlers, the pure Clydesdale stallion PRESIDENT, President, a beautiful rich roan, is 8 years old, and stands 1G hands 2 inches on very short legs, with splendid flat bone, has a good temper, superior action, and is thoroughly staunch in harness. President was imported from Melbourne, by John Shields, Esq., and was bred by Kenneth McKenzie, Esq., ilcidleburgh, Victoria. Pedigree.—By Lord Clyde (imported) out of Blossom, by Prince Charlie (imported) out of Kate (imported), by Lothian Tam, &c. By the above it will be seen that President has a pedigree second to no horse in the North Island; and his stock are allowed by competent judges to be equal to anything in the Wanganui District, and arc all very docile and splendid workers. Terms : Single mares, £3 10s ; two or more, as per agreement; guarantees, £4 10s ; groomage; ss, President will travel as follows: Hawera, on Mondays Waverley, on Wednesday's Returning on Fridays to Kakaramea. Menelik is 3 years old, of a bright chestnut color, and shows great I bone and substance. He took first prize as a yearling and first prize as a 2 year old at the Agricultural Shows. Terms : single mares, £3 10s ; two or more as per agreement; groomage, ss. Fees payable on Ist January. A good paddock will be provided fiec for one month for those who prefer sending mares to the farm, after which a charge of 2s 6d per week will be made.
