NORMANBY.
[from our cork k spondex t.] Friday Evening. On Wednesday the Ngaire Road Board held their first meeting at Brett and Johnston’s Hotel; all the Commissioners being present with the exception of Mr Hawke. Some preliminary business was transacted. Mr Southey was elected chairman ; and, at the request of some members, consented to act as secretary for a few weeks, until the duties of that office arc ascertained more clearly'. It was settled also that the meetings shall bo held at Messrs &outhey r and Willey’s mill, at the Mangawhero, as being a more convenient place for some Commissioners than Normanby. The Chairman was requested to call a meeting of Ngaire settlers whose land is situated in the Hawera Hoad Board district, for the purpose of petitioning for the inclusion of the area from Ketcmarac to the Mangawlloro in the Ngaire Bead Board district. At the next meeting information will have been obtained of the amount of money in hand, and a copy of the Acts relating to local administration supplied to the Commissioners, who will then be in a position tcvprbceed to business. ♦
