Half brother to the famous Marquis (sire of Painter, Kcwininstcr, and Grand Prix) who won St. Loger, Two Thousand, and ran Caractacus to a head for the Derby. Waimea, dam of Puriri, was the greatest stud matron in New Zealand, her progeny having won more races and produced more winners. By the above it will be seen that President has a pedigree second to no horse in the North Island; and his stock are allowed by competent judges to be equal to anything in the Wanganui District, and are all very docile and splendid workers.
