WAVERLEY.
[i’ROJI 0U R COItniiSI'ONDEK T.] BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Wednesday Evening. Tun Concert in aid of the organ fund of the Church of England, held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, was well attended, there being quite a run upon the first scats, so that the concert may be pronounced a financial success. The church building is free from debt, and as the result of last night’s entertainment, with subscriptions in hand, a suitable harmonium can now be procured clear of debt. The friends who came from Patea, Whenuakura, andWaitotara, to assist in the concert, contributed an important portion of the programme ; and when all did so well it would bo invidious to draw comparisons. They must have felt satisfaction that their efforts were appreciated by so large and respectable an audience. After the concert there was a dance in the Hall, and this was enjoyed by many as a fitting close to a very agreeable evening. Gladiator, thoroughbred horse, is to stand in this district for the season. It was the intention of his owner to have sold him, but price and terms not suiting, bo has determined to keep Gladiator here for another season. Some of Gladiator’s stock arc turning out well.
