Land Board Meeting.

The Taranaki Land Board met on Monday. Business relating to Patea County was as follows : Messrs Morrison Bros, informed the Board that they had sustained a loss to their fences by the workmen in the employ of the Board who had completed the deviation of the Rutland road. The matter was referred to the Commissioner of Crown Lands. Mr Hunter, Chairman of the Hawera Road Board, requested the sanction of the Land Board to the proposed expenditure’ 0f 1£22 (deferred payment money) in the erwtion of a bridge across the Otoki stream on ihe Whakamara road. It was resolved, o?*the motion of Mr Standish, seconded by Mr Syme, “ That under the circumstances of the state of the roads within the block

the Board does not consider it would be justified in sanctioning the expenditure outside the deferred payment lands, and therefore cannot approve of the proposed work.” J. Danahey applied for permission to purchase a small piece of land adjoining his section at Rutland Road, which had been cut off through making a deviation of that road. Mr W, B. Pearce applied for sections 24 and 25, block Ngaire; and also gave notice of his surrender of section 4, Whakamara. The Chairman was instructed to refund the deposit on the application, and to inform Mr Pearce that the Board could not entertain his application. The following applications were allowed ; —Joseph Buy an, section 10, block 6, Ngaire, containing 78 acres ; James Petersen, section 34, block 6, Ngaire, 113 acres ; and George Downes, section 3, block 5 Ngaire, 100 acres.
