Agricultural and Pastoral Association.
A meeting of the committee of the Patea District Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held last evening, in Patea. Present—Messrs F: M. Chapman (president), Gibson, Meßae, Syme, Hearn, Hunter, Morton, Hair, Powdrell, Wilson, Peacock, Pearce, Gower, and lloiieyficld. hawera members. A letter received from Mr Jas. Livingston was considered, and the following resolution adopted, on the motion of Mr W. Wilson, seconded by Mr W. Gower : —“That the secretary write to Mr Livingston informing him that at the time Mr Wilson canvassed in Hawera for new members it was supposed by the president of the Association that the land owned by the late Mr W. B. Rhodes was secured to the Association. The ncgociations having fallen through, the committee (elected by the members of the Association at that date) took stops to carry out the statement made by Mr Wilson to the Hawera settlers, that the show was to he permanently fixed at Carlyle ; and that if. Mr Livingston ho not satisfied with this explanation his subscription shall he returned, hut the committee hope that this explanation will satisfy him, and that he will reconsider ids decision.” BUTTER. Resolved that butter be received by Mr John Gibson and stored in the cellar for exhibition at the show to be held in the autumn ; keg of not less than 20lbs ; and that it may he exhibited either in lumps or in pound pats, in brine ; prizes to be £3, £2, and £l. JUDGES. It was decided to invite associations at Napier, Wairarapa, Wanganui, and New Plymouth to nominate suitable judges of horses, blood and draught cattle, and sheep. COMMITTEE. Mr J. lliseley was added to the committee, on the motion of Mr J. Gibson. programme. The programme of the forthcoming show is to be published in the next issue of the County Mail.
